Meet the Team
These are the teachers in Year 3. Mrs Shepherd teaches in Skylark Class and Mr Dutton teaches in Nightingale Class.

Timetables
By the end of Year 3, children should be becoming increasingly confident with the following times tables:
? 2 times table
? 3 times table
? 4 times table
? 5 times table
? 8 times table
? 10 times table
Children should be able to recall these multiplication and division facts quickly and accurately. For example, knowing that 4 × 6 = 24 also helps them know that 24 ÷ 4 = 6 and 24 ÷ 6 = 4.
Regular practice at home can make a huge difference. Just a few minutes each day spent on TT Rockstars, chanting tables, using flashcards, playing online games, or practising quick-fire questions can help children develop confidence and improve their recall speed. This will help to prepare them for the multiplication check at the end of Year 4.
Reading
Pupils will access a daily comprehension and guided reading session based on Complete Comprehension and Hooked on Books. This allows teachers to target specific gaps of knowledge in skills and develop their extended answers and understanding. These are progressive schemes that allow pupils to build up their reading skills, comprehension and analysis of texts over time.
They also access Accelerated Reader and STAR test regularly to monitor their individual progress and to access their optimal reading range for their own reading books. Pupils are encouraged to reading their book more than once before they take a quiz, whilst they are reading shorter texts. Pupils should aim to complete at least 1 quiz per week and are expected to score 100% on 3 quizzes before moving up a level.
Some pupils will still access phonics and reading interventions to continually develop their word reading skills and fluency.
